3-Alarm Fire Damages Motel

No residents were injured or displace and only minor damage was caused

DANVERS – A three-alarm fire caused minor damage to Econo Lodge on Endicott Street Monday night.

Danvers Deputy Fire Chief Robert Amerault said the fire was first reported by an occupant of the motel at 8:06 pm. Smoke was spotted at the center of the building and the fire escaped to a false built-out portion of the exterior of the motel on the second floor.

Firefighters entered the building with a hose on the second floor. The fire did escape to the attic of the building, Amerault said. No damage was done to the interior of the building.

All four Danvers fire units reported to the scene where they aided by Beverly, Middleton, and Topsfield fire departments, Amerault said. Units from Wenham, Salem and Peabody provided assistance at the the Danvers fire station while units were on scene.

None of the motel's residents were injured or displaced due to the blaze.

Amerault said that the fire was under control within about 30 minutes.
