CVS Opens Coronavirus Testing Sites In Danvers, 9 Other MA Towns

The company chose Massachusetts and four other states to open the first of 1,000 planned coronavirus testing sites.

DANVERS, MA — CVS will open 41 coronavirus testing sites in five states Friday, including 10 in Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts sites will be at CVS stores in Danvers, Charlton, Worcester, Raynham, Northampton, Bridgewater, Carver, West Springfield, Westport and Wellesley.

Customers who meet federal testing guidelines can schedule an appointment and receive a test kit at the drive-thru window of the CVS store. A CVS employee will instruct patients on how to self-administer the swab test. Tests will be processed off-site at a third party lab.

CVS is also opening 41 sites in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, and Pennsylvania. CVS has plans to open 1,000 drive-thru testing sites across the country, and hopes to eventually process 1.5 million tests per month. The new sites are in addition to the testing contracts CVS is managing in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Georgia, Michigan and Rhode Island.

"This new approach allows us to utilize our presence in communities across the country and bring testing closer to home," CVS Chief Executive Larry J. Merlo said in a statement. "Our frontline employees will continue to play a critical role in the testing process, with members of their communities directly benefiting from their dedication and selflessness."
