Danvers Board of Health: Diapers Needed For April Drive
Local health departments are collecting diapers for struggling families.

DANVERS, MA – Last year, the Peabody Board of Health collected more than 3,000 diapers for families struggling to afford them. All the participating North Shore towns collected roughly 8,000.
Peabody, Beverly, Danvers, Hamilton, and Manchester are all collecting diapers at various locations for the month of April. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and one in three families in America struggle to afford diapers for their children.
"We use this time to educate people and let them know that diapers are not part of WIC benefits or SNAP," said Chassea Robinson, Peabody's public health nurse. "It’s really something someone has to come up with the full amount of money to purchase."

Robinson said diapers cost roughly $70 or $80 a month. "It just adds up," she said.
People can donate diapers of all sizes, but Robinson said people tend to need larger diapers for older children, because people stop gifting diapers to families as the children age. The drive is collecting wipes and diapers from newborn to size 6, and will distribute them to each local food pantry.

You can drop off unopened diapers and wipes until April 28 at Danvers Town Hall in the main entryway, the Danvers Senior Center, and the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers.
There will be a drop off box located in each City/Town Hall as well as other locations which will differ by locale.
