Danvers Daytime Watering Ban Begins Saturday
Danvers residents and businesses will only be able to water lawns and outdoor gardens at certain times until Oct. 1.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents and businesses will have to wait until nearly dusk to water those lawns and outdoor gardens starting Saturday.
The town will move to Level 2 of its season water restrictions on May 1 — meaning outdoor watering can only take place between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. These restrictions will be in place until Oct. 1.
This preemptive action is part of the state Department of Environmental Protection's mandated regulations as part of the Water Management Act related to "highly stressed river basins."

Part of the Ipswich River basin, Danvers is restricted to 3.8 million gallons per day from May 1 to Oct. 1.
"Conserving water now will reduce the need for the town to implement more stringent restrictions later," town officials said. "The small changes make a big difference."
