Danvers High School Academy Theatre Presents METG DramaFest Entry

DHS ACTS Offers Preview of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" on March 1 at 7 PM, Hosts METG Drama Fest on March 3

The Danvers High School Academy Theatre (DHS ACTS) will perform “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” as its entry in the 2018 Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) Drama Festival. DHS ACTS will offer a public preview performance of the play on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Danvers High School, 60 Cabot Road, Danvers, MA. Suggested donation is $5 per ticket, and all funds collected at the preview will be donated to the Understanding Cam Foundation.

On Saturday, March 3, DHS ACTS will perform the play in the preliminary round of METG competition at Danvers High School, which is hosting seven competing schools that day. The public is invited to attend; a $10 ticket allows you to see as many as all eight of the scheduled pieces. The first production is at 9:00 AM (full schedule at http://metg.org/festival/h-s-festival/high-school-festival-preliminaries-2018/).

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Simon Stephens is based on Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel of the same name. The Olivier- and Tony Award-winning play tells the story of Christopher Boone, a fifteen-year-old boy on the autism spectrum who lives with his father in working-class Swindon, west of London. Falsely accused of killing a neighbor’s dog, Christopher—who is brilliant but has difficulty dealing with the sounds and stresses of everyday life—investigates the crime. Although Christopher only sets out to determine who killed the dog, his detection leads to far greater discoveries that change his life.
