Danvers To Host Kids From Fresh Air Fund

Danvers is among 10 Eastern Massachusetts communities hosting kids from New York City through the Fresh Air Fund this year.

DANVERS, MA – This summer, 15 New York City children will experience the great outdoors with families in Danvers, Marblehead, Gloucester, Boxford, North Andover, Andover, Ipswich, Manchester, Dracut, and Merrimac.

The kids spend two weeks outside the city in rural, suburban, and small-town communities through the Eastern Massachusetts Committe of the Fresh Air Fund. The fund was founded as a nonprofit, and has provided free summer experiences to over 1.8 million New York City kids from low-income communities since 1877.

Children leave home for the first time, or return to their host families every summer, and visit East Coast towns or Southern Canada. New experiences include going to the beach, making s'mores over a campfire, and stargazing.
