Danvers Market Closes After Workers Test Positive For Coronavirus

The market hopes to reopen Wednesday after testing all employees and having the store deep clean and sanitized.

DANVERS, MA — McKinnon's Markets & Super Butcher Shops temporarily closed its Danvers location after an unspecified number of employees tested positive for the new coronavirus.

"The Town of Danvers is not able to confirm specific cases of COVID19 due to privacy concerns," the town of Danvers said in a statement. "We have found McKinnon's to be following all guidance, and do not recommend that persons who entered McKinnon's quarantine for 14 days."

In a Facebook post, McKinnon's said the store would be closed Tuesday so the company could test all employees for COVID-19 and have the store professionally deep cleaned and sanitized. McKinnon's, which said it is working closely with the Danvers health department, hopes to reopen the location on Wednesday.

"Once back open, all employees who arrive to work will have their temperature checked, and will be monitoring for any symptoms each day," the company said Monday. "We are making sure all employees are informed and understand the steps to take to best safeguard their own health and the health of our community."
