Danvers Native Megan Duggan Up For Fan Award

DANVERS, MA — Danvers native Megan Duggan, who was one of three players from the state to help the US win the Gold in women's hockey, isn't just popular at home.

The golden athlete was named a finalist for the Olympic Team of the Games for women’s hockey at this year’s Team USA Awards Best of the Games, a fan-voter competition arranged by Dow.

Fans have until March 11 to help celebrate and support Duggan and their favorite teams by voting online at TeamUSA.org/Awards.

"Awards like these are important to athletes whose opportunities to leverage their Olympic performance are limited, meaning Megan needs all the hometown support she can get," said a Dow representative in an email to Patch.

Duggan was among three Massachusetts players that helped the United States win its first medal in women's hockey since 1998, defeating Canada, 3-2, in a shootout final.
