Danvers Police Begin State Accreditation Process

Police said assessors will be at the department starting March 16 to examine policies and procedures, operations and facilities.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers police will begin the process of trying to secure state accreditation when assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission start their examination of the department on March 16.

Assessors will evaluate aspects of the department's policies and procedures, operations and facilities to determine whether they are in line with state standards. Verification is a voluntary process in which departments strive to meet 257 Massachusetts Police Accreditation Program mandatory standards and 125 optional standards.

Accredited departments meet 100 percent of mandatory standards and 60 percent of optional standards.
