Danvers Rail Trail Closure: Plan Your Route

The rail trail will be closed at mile 3 in December and January for repairs.

DANVERS, MA – Construction on a new bridge at mile 3 of the Rail Trail, meant to safely support large electric division trucks, will temporarily close part of the trail this winter.

In December and January, walkers, joggers, and cyclists should plan to take Locust Street around the construction, which was scheduled to start Dec. 6. The Department of Public Works said in a flier that construction is expected to last eight weeks, and people should look out for large trucks transporting materials during this time.

Signs will be posted at Chestnut Street, Wenham Street, and elsewhere to remind trail users of the closure. Volunteers will also be stationed at these locations to suggest alternate routes. The DPW urges trail users to follow the alternate routes for their safety.
