Danvers Students Receive 'Green Team' Award from State

Danvers students were among those in the state that received the Green Team Award from the Mass Department of Environmental Protection. Students, from 84 classrooms in the state, were charged with making a positive impact on the environment. 

Students became involved with a variety of green activities as part of the Green Team initiative, such as starting up composting projects, increasing energy efficiency and revamping recycling programs. 

“Students who participate in the Green Team program learn some of the basic environmental building blocks, like recycling and sustainability,” said Governor Deval Patrick. “Developing this kind of awareness benefits each individual student, while it also helps to further the conservation and energy-efficiency efforts undertaken by the Commonwealth.”
