Danvers Winter Storm: Snow Parking Ban, Early School Release

The Danvers Department of Public Works issued a parking ban and the district has canceled after-school athletics ahead of Tuesday's snow.

DANVERS, MA — A snow emergency parking ban was declared starting at 3 p.m. with 3 to 6 more inches of snow forecast for the North Shore on Tuesday.

"This ban prohibits on-street parking throughout the town at any time and remains in effect until all winter storm operations are completed," the Danvers Department of Public Works said. "The Danvers DPW will notify you when the ban has ended."

Danvers Public Schools also had an early release and canceled all after-school activities, including sports events.

Danvers High and the Holten Richmond Middle School released at 12:45 p.m. and the elementary schools dismissed at 1:15. Preschool dismissed at noon.

Snowfall was expected to begin around noon in eastern Massachusetts. It's expected to continue for about 12 hours, with the heaviest of it coming between 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

North and west of Boston are under a winter storm warning and expected to get the worst of it. Places like Worcester, Amherst, Lawrence and Newburyport are looking at 6-8 inches.

The "Stop the Spread" free drive-thru coronavirus testing at Salem High School Tuesday night was canceled. Free testing continued at the walk-in site at Salem's Old Town Hall during the day.
