Danvers-Based Firm Bought Up By Tennessee Company

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Thursday, Dec. 19. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. HCPro, which moved its operation to Danvers at 75 Sylvan St. a couple years ago, was recently purchased by BLR (Business & Legal Resources) of Tennessee. The deal also included HealthLeaders Media, a division of HCPro. BLR is a compliance information provider for human resources, environmental, safety and employee training professionals while HCPro is a provider of integrated information, education and training in healthcare regulation and compliance. “Bringing these two companies together allows us to continue to expand our business as the leader in compliance information, training and related solutions,” says BLR CEO Dan Oswald.
  2. Holiday hours: Next week, the library will be closed at noon on Tuesday for Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day and Thursday. The library will re-open on Friday.
  3. The Saturday matinee show at the library resumes this weekend with a tribute to Woody Allen. "Crimes and Misdemeanors" is at 2 p.m. in the Gordon Room.
  4. Toy donations: While most Toys for Tots collection drives ended last weekend, Danvers police and firefighters say residents are welcome to drop off new unwrapped toys through Christmas at either the police station or Fire Headquarters. The donations have been pouring in over the past couple weeks ever since some of the original donated toys were stolen.
  5. Once the final bell rings on Friday, the Danvers Public Schools will be on vacation until Jan. 2. Have any fun things planned for the break?
