Danvers's Osborn Tavern To Close

The Osborn Tavern, which is appealing a liquor license suspension, invited customers to a "last hurrah."

DANVERS, MA — It's last call for the Osborn Tavern in Danvers.

"Last hurrah at Osborn Tavern tonight!" the Maple Street bar said in a Facebook post Friday morning. "Thank you to all of our wonderful customers for your years of support."

Earlier in this week the bar had been posting social media message asking customers to "help kick the kegs." Patch has reached out to the Osborn Tavern for comment and will update this story if we hear back from them.

The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission was scheduled to hear the Osborn Tavern's appeal of a three-day liquor license suspension on Thursday. The commission has not yet issued a ruling on the appeal of the suspension, which was handed out by Danvers selectmen.

Selectmen voted 4-1 in favor of the suspension, finding the tavern had over-served three women on Aug. 30, including one who was pulled over as she tried to drive away from the Maple Street establishment.

Last year, the tavern successfully appealed a six-day suspension stemming from separate incidents in November 2018. On Nov. 2 police responded to a report of a fight that was started by a man and woman who were "heavily intoxicated," according to police reports. Then on Nov. 10, police found a man sleeping in his car behind the Osborn because, he told police, he was too drunk to drive home.
