Danvers's Osborn Tavern Has A Buyer
The Osborn Tavern withdrew an appeal of its liquor license suspension and closed over the weekend.
DANVERS, MA —An unspecified buyer has made an offer to buy the Osborn Tavern's liquor license and assets after the Danvers bar withdrew its appeal of a liquor license suspension and closed on Saturday.
According to the Salem News, an attorney for the tavern said the tavern has a potential buyer, and they will soon file with Danvers for a liquor license transfer. The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission was scheduled to hear the Osborn Tavern's appeal of a three-day liquor license suspension last week. The Osborn Tavern closed on Saturday.
Selectmen voted 4-1 in favor of the suspension, finding the tavern had over-served three women on Aug. 30, including one who was pulled over as she tried to drive away from the Maple Street establishment.

Last year, the tavern successfully appealed a six-day suspension stemming from separate incidents in November 2018. On Nov. 2 police responded to a report of a fight that was started by a man and woman who were "heavily intoxicated," according to police reports. Then on Nov. 10, police found a man sleeping in his car behind the Osborn because, he told police, he was too drunk to drive home.
