Essex County Prison 'Video Visits' To Begin Next Week

The Essex County Sheriff's Department said the video conferences will begin Tuesday and cost $5, plus tax, per 20 minutes.

MIDDLETON, MA —Friends and families of those incarcerated at the Essex County Jail can pay inmates a "video visit" starting next week.

The Essex County Sheriff's Department launched a Friends & Family Video Visits program with registration to begin on Friday and video visits to begin on Dec. 8. Each visit is a maximum of 20 minutes and costs $5, plus tax.

There is a one-time registration process to complete before visits begin. This process includes a valid email address and government-issued ID.

Twenty-four hours after registration those who register will be notified by e-mail that the registration has been approved. Once approved, those wishing to visit inmates can click here.

A debit or credit card is required to schedule a visit. Visits may be scheduled seven days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 9:05 p.m.
