Essex Tech To Use $10K Grant To Teach Social Emotional Learning
The state grant will allow the school to train 20 faculty, staff and administrators on the service learning technique.

DANVERS, MA — Essex Tech will train nearly two dozen faculty and administrators in service learning techniques and help them integrate the social emotional principles into their curriculum through a $10,000 from the December by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Service learning challenges students to identify, research, propose and implement solutions to real needs in their school or community.
"We are thrilled to have received this grant funding and to be able to offer this incredible opportunity for our staff," Essex Tech Superintendent Heidi Riccio said. "These trainings will help bolster the skills of our teachers and administrators to ensure our students have a holistic learning experience that will allow them to become engaged members of their community."

Riccio said 20 faculty and administrators will begin their training on Jan. 27 and it will be held throughout the winter and spring remotely because of the coronavirus health crisis. The staff involved will include administrators, academic and career technical education teachers and counselors.
Essex Tech was one of 23 schools to receive this grant funding.
