Danvers, MA- Danvers Indoor Sports is excited to bring Girls on the Run for girls in grades 3-5 to the North Shore this Spring! Girls on the Run is a nationally recognized physical activity-based, positive youth development program that uses running to enhance the social, emotional and physical skills and behaviors of young girls. GOTR places an emphasis on developing competence, confidence, connection, character, and contribution in young girls through fun weekly lessons.
“Hosting Girls on the Run at Danvers Indoor Sports is the perfect fit. DIS supports programming that inspires girls athletically and emotionally. We have several surfaces to help them train and we are fortunate to have two qualified and experienced coaches on staff to run the program. As Head Coaches, Sandy Mahoney and Luke Padilla have years of sports, fitness, and running experience but more than that, they have a drive to make fitness fun and share that belief with today's young athletes,” says Kelly Cragg, Owner at Danvers Indoor Sports.
The GOTR program at DIS will bring together a team of girls for an eight-week program that encourages personal development, team building and connection to the community through running. The program ends in a 5K event that celebrates the girls’ growth throughout the season.

"What I love about the program is that it’s not JUST about running or being athletic, it's about getting girls moving in a non-competitive environment where they are encouraged to try their best. The program also covers a variety of lessons in self-confidence, friendship, healthy habits, and communicating that are so important to young girls. It will be exciting to see their progress this Spring," says Sandy Mahoney, DIS Facility Coordinator and GOTR Head Coach.
