Gulls taking flight, an actual Nigerian scam, and more from this week's police logs.

NORTH SHORE, MA – The devices that emit a sound to keep teenagers away apparently works too well, and dogs don't like it either. This, and other discoveries in this week's North Shore police logs.

MARBLEHEAD

  • Someone reported that they sent $700 to Nigeria via Western Union when trying to find a girlfriend online on Thursday around 3 p.m.
  • Police responded to a report of a man sitting inside a house on Stratford Road while an alarm went off on Friday around 2 p.m. Officers found the "man" was a mannequin.
  • Officers unplugged a device on a Waldron Court back porch designed to make a noise to keep teens away after people complained it was driving dogs crazy and hurting people's ears on Friday around 6:30 p.m.

BEVERLY

  • Police responded to a report of a neighbor dispute regarding a candy wrapper on Thursday around 4:30 p.m. on Elliott Street.
  • Officers responded to a report of a man with a shotgun on the second floor of the MBTA garage on Rantoul Street on Friday around 9 a.m. Police found the man was a photographer working for Windover, and was not carrying any weapons.

SALEM

  • Police responded to Lappin Park on a report of an injured bird last Tuesday around 6:30 p.m.
  • Salem firefighters and police responded to Washington Street on Friday around 7 p.m. on a report of a Toyota Camry on fire. Firefighters put out the fire and it was towed by Bill's
  • Animal control responded to a Highland Avenue parking lot for a report of an injured seagull on Monday around 7 p.m. The officer found a flock of common gulls and Herring gulls that seemed to be in good health. The officer could not find an injured gull, and witnessed all the gulls "gracefully take flight."

PEABODY

  • Officers took a report of a neighbor upset about cigarette butts on the street on Saturday around 1 a.m. The perpetrator agreed to pick up the butts.
  • Police responded to a report of an unclaimed piece of luggage in a driveway on Bartholomew Street on Saturday around 8 a.m. The suitcase was empty and between properties.
  • Someone found a knife covered in dirt on the side of Lake Street by the McCarthy School on Sunday around 8:30 p.m.
