Essex County Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Scattered showers are forecasted for Tuesday before clear skies through Thursday.

NORTH SHORE, MA – The Boston branch of the National Weather Service posted a severe thunderstorm warning Tuesday afternoon, forecasting the possibility of strong thunderstorms in Salem, Beverly, Gloucester, Danvers, Hamilton, Topsfield, Manchester, Wenham and Essex until 5 p.m.

Strong thunderstorms means potentially damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours leading to flooding in urban areas, or areas with poor drainage.

The NWS predicted showers on and off on Tuesday around the North Shore, with thunderstorms beginning after 11 a.m. The storms may bring "gusty winds and heavy rain" with them, and highs near 89 degrees. Tuesday night is expected to be cloudy.

On Wednesday, the NWS forecasts an idyllic beach day: High near 70 degrees, and sunny. Wednesday night is expected to be clear, with a low of 51 degrees. Thursday will likely mirror Wednesday's weather.

Friday, on the other hand, may see showers after 3 p.m., per NWS predictions, and cooler temps, with a high of 67 degrees. There's a 60 percent chance of precipitation on Friday night.
