NSCC Announces Lauren Baker As Commencement Speaker
The First Lady of the Commonwealth will address the school's graduating class on May 26.

North Shore Community College in Danvers has named Lauren Baker, the First Lady of the Commonwealth, as the school’s 50th commencement speaker when ceremonies are held on Thursday, May 26 at Salem State University.
To mark the special occasion of the school’s 50th commencement, members of the schools first graduating class will participate in the ceremony. NSCC is awarding approximately 1,000 associate degrees and other certificates during the graduation, which will be held from 6 – 8 p.m.
“It is so exciting to be celebrating North Shore Community College’s 50th commencement,” College President Patricia A. Gentile told the university. “Commencement is always a wonderful occasion, but this year is really going to be very special. We have invited members of the first graduating class to return to participate and are so honored to have the First Lady of the Commonwealth with us for this very special evening.”

Vedad Konjic of Lynn will receive the NSCC Alumni Association’s 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award for his work as the school’s current Director of Building Services and Operation. Konjic, a Bosnian immigrant and 2006 graduate of NSCC’s business management program, is currently coordinating the school’s new addition in Lynn, along with his many other responsibilities. Candidates for the award are chosen based on their professional accomplishments, character, integrity, and college and community service.
“NSCC has helped over 37,000 alumni change their lives and the North Shore region in its first 50 years,” Gentile told the university. “That’s quite a legacy.”

Nathaniel Montero of Salem will be the student speaker and Kevin Evangelista of Boxford will be the commencement soloist.
