Obituary: Eleanor M. (Connor) (Henry) Corso; Enjoyed Writing Poetry, Many of Her Poems Published

She was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers.

Eleanor M. (Connor) (Henry) Corso, 96, passed away on September 22, 2015 in Masconomet Healthcare, Topsfield, due to kidney failure.

Born in Manchester NH, on May 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Paul F. Connor, Sr. and Agnes F. (Howe) Connor.

She graduated Saint Joseph High School for Girls in Manchester. She attended Mount Saint Mary’s College in Hookset, NH for business and math. In her early years she worked at Varicks Dress Shop and in the mills of Manchester. Later she worked at the Hanover Street Laundry owned by her uncles, Carl and Joe Giesel. As a young adult she liked to dance on roller skates with her then fiancé, Donald Henry. She would follow her brother and his friends around hopping on and off the trollies in town. Eleanor enjoyed writing poetry, having many of her poems published in the Union Leader. She also played the mandolin on occasion.

After marrying a second time, she moved to Falls Church, Virginia and was secretary to the CEO of Crown and Cullen Photo in Arlington. Moving back to Massachusetts she worked for Gorton’s in Gloucester before retiring. Eleanor was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers.

She was predeceased by her husband Jasper J. Corso, Sr., her sisters Mary K. Bolieau and Agnes Singer and her brother Paul Connor, Jr.

Family members include her daughter, Donalene Varnavas and her husband Mickey, two sons Jasper “Jay” Corso and his wife, Janet and Jude Corso and his wife, Pat, 11 grandchildren, Samantha McHale (Michael), Michael Varnavas, Melissa Terrell (Christopher), Gregory Tsiopanas (Lynda), Jay Paul Corso (Michelle), Jennifer (Corso) LeColst (Nick), Rhiannan Corso and Jacqueline and John Daniels, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in Manchester and around the country.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial is private. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor’s name to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston,MA 02215.
