Shirley Caroline (Brooks) Stone, 86, of Danvers passed away on Saturday, September 26, surrounded by her loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Shirley was born in Beverly to Henry W. and Alice (D’Amour) Brooks. Shirley moved to Danvers as a child and was a lifelong resident.

She was a member of St. Richard Parish and the Ladies Sodality and of the Danvers High School class of 1948. Shirley worked in Brooks Market prior to raising her 8 children and then worked as a saleswoman over the years for various North Shore businesses including Becton and Dickinson.

Shirley was well known for her kindness, beautiful smile and ability to give inspiration and love to her children, their families and her many friends.Shirley was widow of Joseph Bernard Stone and the mother of eight children, who are: (Joseph) Brian Stone of Londonderry, NH; Paul Stone of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA; Scott Stone of East Kingston, NH; Theresa Buchman of Tyngsboro, MA; Richard Stone of Holden, MA; Shawn Stone of Danvers, MA; James Stone of Reston, VA; and Carolynne Stone of Danvers, MA. She is survived by her three sisters, Gloria Lipinski and Virginia Kavanaugh of Danvers, and Christine Roy of Maine, and her three brothers, Henry Brooks Jr. and Robert Brooks of Gloucester, MA and Ralph Brooks of Danvers. She also leaves behind 17 beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Shirley spent her final years at Putnam Farms Assisted Living in Danvers. Her family is extremely thankful for their wonderful support, love and care for Shirley. The family is also thankful for the care of the staff at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. Visitation Wednesday in the Mackey Funeral Home, Middleton, MA from 2-4 & 6-9pm.
