Obituary: Susan A. (Swift) Nowak, 66, Worked at the Internal Revenue Service and the State Welfare Office

She retired from Kaiser Systems. She enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting and was an avid reader.

Susan A. (Swift) Nowak, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 1, 2015 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was the wife of John A. Nowak with whom she shared 44 wonderful years together.

Born in Salem on November 20, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John and Jacqueline (Turcotte) Swift. She was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1966. Susan was employed with the Internal Revenue Service and the State Welfare Office before she retired from Kaiser Systems. She enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting and was an avid reader.

Besides her husband, John, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Jennifer Nowak of Peabody, her two grandchildren, Jarred and Katelyn Nowak, her two sisters, Patricia Ruta of Ipswich, Ann Pero of FL and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John Swift, Jr.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Susan’s name to Mass. General Hosp./North Shore Cancer Center, 102-104 Endicott St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, MA 01923.
