Bob Hubbard, author of Major General Israel Putnam: Hero of the American Revolution, looks forward to visiting Danvers again: “Two years ago, I was honored to speak at the Danvers Historical Society on General Israel Putnam. Every time I give a talk, there are many aspects of General Putnam’s life that I do not have time to cover. I am pleased that the Historical Society has invited me back to speak on such topics as: new photographs of places associated with Putnam’s life, Israel’s cousin Rufus Putnam and how he was connected to Danvers, Putnam’s role at the Battles Harlem Heights and White Plains, Putnam’s relationship with Alexander Hamilton and General Horatio Gates, Putnam at the Battle of Carillon, new information on the tree to which Putnam was tied and almost burned alive, and much more.” The Danvers Historical Society is also looking forward to Mr. Hubbard spending the evening of Thursday, Dec. 19th with us again as part of the Monthly Speaker Series held every 3rd Thursday of each month, 7:00pm at Tapley Memorial Hall, 13 Page Street, Danvers MA. For more information, contact the Danvers Historical Society: 978-777-1666 or E-mail to dhs@danvershistory.org. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
