Paul M. O'Brien, Longtime Teacher, 74
Danvers native and longtime Beverly School teacher Paul M. O'Brien passed away on Saturday.

DANVERS, MA – Math teacher, veteran, and husband Paul M. O'Brien passed away in his home on Oct. 29, 2016, after a period of declining health.
O'Brien was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Susan O'Brien.
O'Brien was born in Danvers on April 22, 1942, the son of Ruth, maiden name Reynolds, and James O'Brien. He grew up and went to school in Danvers, and graduated from St. John's Prep and Merrimack College.

Paul O'Brien served in the U.S. Navy as an officer, and taught at the Great Lakes Naval Base. He taught for the Beverly School District as a math teacher for more than 30 years. Paul was dedicated to his family, his wife, and his career. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, all kinds of history, and tennis.
Paul O'Brien is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Christine and Joseph Mercurio of Nashua, NH, and Erin and Robert Woitkowski of Haverhill, MA, and five beloved grandchildren, Jonathan, Kelsey, and Kersten Mercurio, and Stephen and David Woitkowski. O'Brien is also survived by his sister, Marie McLaughlin of Danvers, and brother, James O'Brien of Florida. He was predeceased by his sister Joanna Holzmann.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 9AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial is private. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
