Ride to Raise Funds for Cancer in Danvers on Sept. 8

Danvers, in conjunction with Fuddruckers, will be once again hosting the sixth annual Reason to Ride on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 8 a.m. 

The annual bike-a-thon rides throughout the North Shore and raises funds for critical cancer car and research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. 

“We aim to raise $100,000 from the event this year and would like to see more than 300 riders come out,” states Tom DesFosses, cancer survivor and founder of A Reason to Ride. “Cancer is one of those diseases that touches everyone’s life, whether you were diagnosed yourself, a family member or close friend. This ride means a lot to me and my family, and not only helps raise money to support research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, but also helps provide care to people and families each year who cope with one of the most horrendous illnesses in the world.”

 In the 2012 Reason to Ride race, more than 200 cyclists participated in either the 10, the 25 or the 50-mile rides throughout the North Shore, which included the Danvers Wenham, Topsfield, Gloucester, Essex and Ipswich. 

Last year the group raised more than $55,000.
