Route 1 Overnight Lane Closures In Danvers, Peabody For 6 Weeks

Lanes will be taken from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. in both directions from Forest Street in Peabody to North Street in Danvers starting Sunday night.

DANVERS, MA — Overnight lane closures beginning Sunday night on Route 1 in Danvers and Peabody are expected to be in place five days a week for about six weeks.

The state Department of Transportation will implement the closures in both directions from Forest Street in Peabody to North Street in Danvers from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays starting this Sunday and extending through Aug. 19.

The closures are to allow crews to conduct a roadway milling and repaving operation as part of a $10.8 million project to improve the road in the Danvers and Peabody stretch.

A minimum of one travel lane will be allowed through in both directions at all times.

Drivers will be alerted with signage, law enforcement details and messaging throughout the work area.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
