Route 128 Bridge Replacement Begins In Danvers, Peabody

The state Department of Transportation said the intermittent closures in both directions will continue through mid-2021.

DANVERS, MA —Lane closures that begin on Route 128 in Peabody and Danvers on Sunday will last intermittently through mid-2021 as part of the $24.7 million Waters River Bridge replacement project.

The state Department of Transportation said that both daytime and nighttime closures in both directions will start Sunday night between Endicott Street (Exit 24) and Route 114 (Exit 25 A/B) near the town line.

Nighttime lane closures will occur, as needed, Sunday through Thursdays between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Daytime closures will happen daily Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The closures are part of stage 3 of the project replacing the bridge that carries Route 128 over the Waters River.

The state DOT said safety signs, traffic control devices and police details will be used to guide drivers through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays, reduced speeds and use caution.
