St. John's Prep Tests Google's New Online Safety Tool

St. John's Prep students and teachers helped test Google's new online safety initiative.

DANVERS, MA – Play a game, learn to be safe in digital spaces. That's the idea behind Google's new safety initiative called Be Internet Awesome.

Students and educators at St. John's Prep helped test the program, which is now available to students across the country. The Family Online Safety Institute, iKeepSafe, and ConnectSafely worked with Google to create a game that encourages users to be smart, alert, strong, kind, and brace online.

The game – Interland – is web-based and free. According to a Google blog post about the game, it seeks to teach kids to be careful about photos and information they share, not to fall for fake information, how to keep information secure, be kind to others, and resolve conflicts.
