Weekend Washout Provides Danvers Water Restriction Relief

DANVERS, MA — Less than a week after moving to the highly restrictive Level 4 outdoor watering guidelines, Danvers lawns are getting a reprieve courtesy of the Fourth of July weekend washout.

The town said on Wednesday it is easing water restrictions back to Level 3 as of Wednesday.

That means residents can once again water lawns using sprinkler or irrigation systems Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next morning.

Handheld watering through nozzled hoses and watering cans, as well as car washing, are still allowed under Level 3 restrictions.

Under Level 4 restrictions, outdoor sprinkler use was only allowed two nights a week for three hours at a time.

Water flow on the Ipswich River determines the necessity of the water restrictions.

The Danvers Department of Public Works is advising residents to keep an eye out for changing restrictions as the summer progresses. Changes are noted on message boards across, posts on town social media sites, local cable access television, the town website and local media outlets such as Patch.
