Animal Emergency? Call Dedham Dispatch

Effective immediately, all animal control issues should be communicated through the Town of Dedham's Central Dispatch by calling 781 326-1212.

Dedham residents who need an Animal Control Officer should now contact the Dedham Central Dispatch Center. 

Effective immediately, all animal control issues should be communicated through the Town of Dedham’s Central Dispatch by calling 781 326-1212, Chief Michael d’Entremont said in a written statement on Wednesday.  These calls will be answered by a dispatcher who will contact the Animal Control Officer to respond to your needs. 

Before this week, Dedham Animal Control had their own separate number.

The Animal Control Officer performs a variety of animal control duties. She is responsible for:

  • Helping Dedham residents in dealing with and resolving problems caused by animals (domestic or wildlife);
  • Responding to complaints and concerns of the public with regard to animal disturbances;
  • Enforcing town by-laws and state statutes relating to animal control;
  • Patrolling the streets for stray or injured animals;
  • Providing first aid and rescue operations for injured animals;
  • Responding to telephone and radio requests for emergency animal assistance;
  • The Police Department looks forward to integrating the animal control function into our operations to better serve the community.
