Cailen McCormick for Dedham School Committee

Cailen McCormick, a candidate for Dedham School Committee, made her case explaining why she’s ready to hit the ground running to serve as the town's next elected member.

As a seasoned public school educator and administrator, Cailen knows exactly how school budgets work. She has the knowledge and experience to put Dedham’s town dollars to work in the best way possible because she knows how each dollar will maximize student outcomes.

It's not enough to just know about finance. School Committee members need to know how educational spending works, and Cailen is an expert in this area. Dedham schools face the huge challenge of making up lost academic gains resulting from the pandemic, and electing a School Committee member with the expertise in maximizing student outcomes is crucial.

Over the last 14 years, Cailen has spent her career as a special educator in Boston Public Schools, working at both the school level and the district level. She currently works in an administrative role, supporting school-based budget decisions and resource allocation while also working directly with students, teachers, and families.

Cailen’s vision for Dedham Public Schools is one where all children are supported; where academic, social, and emotional growth is at the forefront of policy and budget; and where decisions are made collaboratively with families and caregivers.
