Dedham Man Arrested After Postal Worker Thwarts Attempted Robbery
Dedham resident Roderick Dowdell was arrested for trying to steal from a 13-year-old boy.

An alert citizen led to the arrest of one male suspect and the recovery of stolen property Tuesday afternoon in Dedham.
Around 4 p.m., police learned of a man who stole a hover board from a 13-year-old Dedham resident in the area of Youngs Road.
According to police, the boy was followed by a male party and shoved from the hover board. The suspect snatched the boy’s property and attempted to flee the area. The boy then reportedly yelled for assistance.

A nearby United States Postal Worker answered his call for help, police said. The worker was able to intercept the male as he fled toward a vehicle and take hold of the hover board.
Police were able to obtain a description of the suspect and suspect vehicle. The vehicle was later spotted on Sanderson Avenue. A stop was then conducted.Â

After confirming the suspect identity, an officer arrested Roderick Dowdell, of President’s Way in Dedham. Dowdell was charged with un-armed robbery.
