Dedham Police Share Vacation Reminders for Residents

The following information was contributed by the Dedham Police Department.

• Notify your local police department. Leave a contact number in case of emergency. 


• Stop newspaper and mail delivery or arrange for a neighbor or friend to pick them up for you. Don’t let the mail or newspapers pile up.
• Arrange for lawn service. 

• Arrange for pet care. 

• Check your alarm system and notify the companies that monitor your fire and burglar alarms. 

• Cut shrubs below window level and trim trees away from your house. 

• Purchase light timers or leave a few lights on in your home.

• Lock all doors and windows.

• Leave a key, itinerary, alarm code and phone number with a trustworthy neighbor.
