Dedham Public Safety Building Ground And Foundation Work Begins
Ground improvement work includes vibratory compaction, so some vibrations might be felt outside the project site.
DEDHAM, MA — Dedham's new public safety building is coming along and on schedule to open in fall 2022.
This week, crews are preparing and starting the ground improvement and foundation work at the Bryant Street site. Ground improvement work includes vibratory compaction, so some vibrations might be felt outside the project site. Town officials assured residents that the vibrations aren't at a level that could cause damage to nearby buildings.
Dedham's new public safety building will be a combined center for both the police and fire departments. The new building will replace the police station at 600 High Street, which was built in 1962 and the fire station at 436 Washington Street, which was built in 1930. Work on the building started in December 2020.
