From Curry College: Curry College is pleased to announce that Dedham resident Jenn Tegnell was cast in the Spring 2017 Main Stage production of “Big Love.” Jenn, a rising senior Communication major and daughter of Kathy Widger and Geoff Tegnell, played the role of Eleanor. Previously, she appeared in Curry Theatre’s productions of “American Idiot,” “Into the Woods,” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Jenn is also the assistant sound director and the co-head of props for the Curry Theatre department.

“Big Love,” directed by Elizabeth Singer Goldman, is playwright Charles Mee’s modern twist on one of the oldest surviving Greek plays, “The Suppliant Women.” This play followed 50 sisters who have fled from Greece to avoid a contract to marry their 50 cousins. Landing in Italy, the sisters meet a collection of interesting characters residing in a family’s lavish home. Three sisters take up the seemingly impossible task of convincing the Italian family to help halt the wedding and free the sisters from their contractual obligation. This darkly comedic take on a classical tragedy explores themes of gender, love, and obligation.
