Dedham's Peter H. Reynolds Joins Kennedy for #StayAtHome Reading

NYTimes Best-selling Author Reynolds Teams Up With Congressman Kennedy to Support Kids & Families During COVID-19 Crisis

DEDHAM, MA - Recently children and their families around the Commonwealth - and the world - enjoyed a special bedtime read aloud with children's book author & Dedham resident Peter H. Reynolds. In the wake of COVID-19 and the Commonwealth’s recent stay-at-home advisory, Reynolds joined Congressman Joe Kennedy III for his weekly “Kennedy Evening Broadcast” address, which is scheduled every Monday and Thursday night at 8 PM from Kennedy's home in Newton. Episodes stream live on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, and features special co-hosts.

Co-hosts will join Congressman Kennedy to talk about everything from health and safety precautions to tips on how to stay busy at home during quarantine. On March 26, Kennedy's guest was author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds. Reynolds is best known for his children's books about "authentic learning, creativity and self-expression," including The Dot, The North Star, Ish, Going Places, I Am Human, Word Collector, Happy Dreamer, and Be You, as well as illustrating the best-selling Judy Moody series. During the webcast, Reynolds read his book Rose’s Garden, a children’s book aptly dedicated to Kennedy’s great-grandmother Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, about patience, creativity, and working together.

Parents and children were encouraged to tune in for tips on how to maintain positivity at home during this time and enjoy the reading. In addition to the Kennedy Evening Broadcasts, Kennedy will host a Weekly Wednesday Q&A with supporters and the general public on Facebook Live. Folks tuning are encouraged to submit their questions regarding COVID-19, quarantine, and what is happening in Washington, D.C. in the comments for Kennedy to answer directly. These Q&As will take place every Wednesday evening at 8pm on the Kennedy for MA Facebook page.

These nightly broadcasts are part of Kennedy’s larger effort to connect with residents during this time of deep uncertainty. Prior to the stay-at-home advisory, Kennedy updated residents in a series of virtual town hall events. These special broadcasts will take the place of his virtual town halls, and Kennedy will continue to reach residents throughout the day with clips on Facebook Live, Instagram Live, and Twitter. Critical information can also be found on Kennedy’s online rapid response center and virtual campaign office on Facebook.
