On May 24th at 7:00 PM via a Zoom webinar, the Dedham Community Coalition—along with the International Institute of New England in cooperation with the Dedham Cultural Council, Livable Dedham, and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Massachusetts (GFWC) Dedham Junior Women’s Club (DJWC)—present Suitcase Stories, an artistic virtual performance. The Suitcase Stories provide an opportunity to listen to the stories of international members of our communities as they “unpack the suitcases” of their journey to the USA.

A program of the International Institute New England (https://www.iine.org), the Suitcase Stories® (https://suitcasestories.org) invites dialogue between U.S. and foreign-born residents to develop and share life-changing experiences of migration and cultural change. The objective of this program is to foster a more welcoming and inclusive environment for newcomers into our neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces.

As more people relocate around the world, the Suitcase Stories® provides the opportunity to explore migration through the art of storytellers. Watch and listen to their stories, as they unpack the “suitcases” of their lives and share with us their experiences as they moved from their countries of origin to their new communities in Massachusetts and New England.
