Letter To The Editor: Bus Safety
One resident wrote to Patch about concerns she has about drivers going through bus stop signs.

The following is a letter to the editor and has been lightly editor for clarity. Letters can be submitted to Dedham@Patch.com
My name is Jaclyn Guarino and I am a very concerned parent who lives in Dedham. I have a child who attends school at Avery Elementary School and she takes the bus every day to school. As she is only in second grade, I stay with her until the bus arrives and pick her up in the afternoons from the bus. In the past two days, while my child was coming off the bus, and getting on, I have watched as cars blindly drive right through the blinking red bus stop sign. The first time, my daughter was on the last step of the bus about to step out, and today she had just finished crossing the street with about six other children. Both of these drivers were women who appeared to be in their mid to upper 40s and probably have children of their own. So it’s even more disheartening to see. Thankfully nobody was hurt but this will end in tragedy if it is not addressed.
As a Dedham resident and parent, I want to ensure our children are safe going to school. The only way I think this can happen is if we raise awareness on this topic. This is happening in our own town. Our children have a right to feel safe. As parents, it is our duty to protect them.
