Major Motion Picture Will be Filming in Dedham This Summer

The crew for "The Judge," starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, will be filming in Dedham Square next month, closing roads during the day.

The Dedham Board of Selectmen had a discussion with Charlie Harrington and Jeremy Fiske, part of the film crew who will working on "The Judge," starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall.

The selectmen wanted to discuss the road closures and how Dedham Police will help with traffic. The film crew plans on filming on High Street, in front of the court house and The First Church on July 11 and 12.

Selectman Jim MacDonald was excited to see that Dedham was going to be a part of the film, but also wanted the crew to use the town's resources.

"I just want you to consider using the many shops and restaurants here in Dedham Square for your crew," MacDonald said.  "We have many resources here for you to use."

Harrington and Fiske agreed to take advantage of the area.

The crew will be filming on High Street mostly during the day, from Bullard Street to Old River Place. During that time, the roads will be closed off and Dedham Police will assist in redirecting traffic.

The movie is set to be released in 2014.
