The 2014 impaired driving prevention campaign seeks to save lives by reinforcing the importance of safe service of alcohol by the 700 licensed liquor establishments in Norfolk County communities. Morrissey’s “observe, don’t overserve” campaign is a partnership with local chiefs and the alcohol serving establishments in their towns.
The event will also launch a new Pharmacy Outreach Project - Prescription Drug Safety Initiative. The District Attorney, local chiefs and substance abuse prevention coalition leaders will be visiting all 120 pharmacies in Norfolk County to enroll every pharmacist in Norfolk County in the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMP). The initiative further encourages pharmacists to consistently use the PMP prior to dispensing medicine. Outreach will also include a request for pharmacies to promote District Attorney Morrissey’s mission of safe storage and safe disposal of medicine by providing instructions that can be distributed by pharmacies to consumers with new prescriptions, as well as safety posters for display at pharmacy sites.
