Town Of Dedham Hydrant Flushing And Water Main Cleaning Starts On April 20

Over time, mineral sediments and deposits collect and coat the water mains.

April 16, 2021

To maintain the quality of water to our customers and clean sediment from the water mains, the Dedham-Westwood Water District will be flushing the water piping distribution system beginning on Tuesday April 20, 2021. Work will continue weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until the end of May.

The flushing will start in the Greenlodge Area and systematically progress through the Manor, Oakdale, Endicott, Rustcraft, Dedham Square, East Dedham, Precinct One, and Riverdale areas.

Over time, mineral sediments and deposits collect and coat the water mains. This can discolor water, cause undesirable tastes and odors, and over time reduce the flow of water through the mains. The water mains are flushed by operating valves in the street and opening fire hydrants to direct the flow of water to properly flush the water main.
