Update: Dedham Woman Returns Home from Ukraine with Daughter

Dedham resident Christine Caswell McCarron was stuck in Ukraine for close to four weeks due to passport issues with her adopted daughter.

After nearly four weeks of dealing with passport issues, Dedham resident Christine Caswell McCarron finally arrived home with her daughter Kristina late Sunday night from Ukraine.

"Kristina's passport arrived in Kiev early Friday morning," Caswell McCarron said.  "We were then able to pick up her clearance papers from the medical center and also headed to the US Embassy for our exit interview and to receive Kristina's visa."

The Ukraine stopped printing passports due to political issues which caused a backlog of 160,000 passport applications. Caswell McCarron was one of 13 other Americans who were trying to leave the country with their newly adopted children.

After three weeks of waiting,  Caswell McCarron was then told by the government that the adopted children would be in the first batch of prints.

The whole Caswell McCarron family greeted both Christine and Kristina at Logan Airport for a heartwarming homecoming.  When asked how it felt to be back, Caswell McCarron said that she was "very happy and relieved to be home."
