Dover Publishes Coronavirus Update For March 20

The Department of Public Health reported 10 additional cases of coronavirus in Dover during the week that ended on March 16.

The Department of Public Health reported 10 additional cases of COVID-19 in Dover during the week that ended on March 16.
In Massachusetts, as of March 18, the seven day average of daily new cases had increased by 9% over the previous 14 days.
There were three cases reported in the Dover-Sherborn schools, with no evidence of in-school transmission. Transmission is occurring in the community.

If you learn that you have COVID, please work with the contact tracer who calls you

The contact tracer will ask about your close contacts during your infectious period. Please be forthright in your responses.

The contact tracer will keep your identity private

Some people are afraid to reveal the names of their contacts because they don't want people to know that they have COVID-19. However, the contact tracer will not name you or provide any information that could be indirectly identifying

Close contacts of COVID cases receive calls or texts telling them only that they were exposed on a specific date

Close contacts don't learn the location of the exposure, the activity in which the exposure occurred, the time of day, or the person who may have inadvertently exposed them.
The rationale for letting close contacts know they've been exposed is that they can then quarantine during the incubation period of the virus and get tested to learn if they became infected. If instead they go about their usual business, they can readily spread the virus to other people, including members of their own households. People are highly infectious in the two days prior to the development of symptoms, so spread is very easy.
