Sherborn Fire Department Uses $147K Grant For Breathing Apparatus
A self-contained breathing apparatus is used by firefighters to protect them from smoke, dust and gases and provided clean air and oxygen.
SHERBORN, MA — The Sherborn Fire Department showed off its new equipment thanks to a FEMA grant.
The department was awarded a $147,000 grant through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program this past fall. Since 2001, the program has helped firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed resources necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
The department used the grant to pay for a self-contained breathing apparatus. The equipment is used by firefighters to protect them from smoke, dust and gases and provided clean air and oxygen.
