Community Center Building Committee Weekly Update - June 4, 2021

Find out what's happening in Dover-Sherbornfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Dear all,

We are just 8 days away from the Special Town Meeting, but there is still time to share this update and encourage your Dover Friends and Neighbors to come and vote on the 12th at 10am.

Please do one thing to help this project and forward this update to as many people as you can, even if it’s just 5 of your friends here in Dover and ask them to share with 5 of their friends….word will soon get around. Thank you!!  It takes a community. …

A huge thank you to these groups for helping people get out and vote…

COA, for arranging rides for those seniors who need it.

DS Soccer, for moving all their home games that were at the same time as the Special Town Meeting to help parents come and vote.

P&R, for arranging programming at the High School to help parents who want to come and vote.

Open Letter

Thank you to the following groups who have signed this open letter encouraging people to come out and vote. We greatly appreciate your support. If anyone else who is involved in a Dover Community Group would like to add their group’s name to the letter please let me know.

Final Public Forum

If you missed the final Public Forum on June 2nd, and want to watch it click here to see the recording,

And to see the slide presentation from the forum click here

Both the recording and the slide presentation includes information on the designs, the voting process for June 12th  and the finance plan.

Is there a burning question that you have, something that you have heard lots of people asking about this project? Let me know and I will feature it with a full answer on our Facebook and here in the weekly update to make sure that everyone has the information they need to be able to vote on Saturday June 12th.

Here are this week’s questions and answers:

Thursday - What does renovate mean, what changes will we see to the 1910 building?

The part that will be kept as is, is the exterior of the building. Inside the interiors will be gutted, taken back to the studs with new floors, ceiling, walls and importantly for the front of that building the windows will be made larger, taken further down to the ground to let more light in. Ground will be cleared at the front of the building to allow for this.

Basically the renovate will still be like a new build as it will have all new systems inside too, heating, air conditioning etc.

Tuesday’s was a bumper issue of 'What You Need To Know Before You Vote...', here is a link to a FAQ document which hopefully contains answers to all the questions you might have about this project and the vote on June 12th.

Have you seen the new signs that we added to the banners in front of the Caryl Community Center?

There are now signs with the internal plans for each design next to the banners. If you’re in Dover center, check them out.

Help to spread the word

It’s so easy to help us spread the word so that we can have a vote that represents as many of the Town as possible. Here are some ways….

Don’t forget to:

(All the most up to date information and resources are right under the ‘Welcome’ message, under the heading ‘Latest updates, plans and information’)

  • Ask your friends and neighbors to add themselves to the ‘Notify Me’ system on the Dover MA website so they will get all the most up to date information. Here is the link  https://www.doverma.gov/list.aspx or you can go to the Dover MA home page and look for the ‘Notify Me‘ icon under the top banner photo.
  • Share this email and the summary attached and any other information you see with your friends, neighbors and associates here in Dover. Even if you think they may already have got it, don’t assume (you know what it does! ;-)) send it on and help spread the word.
  • Encourage everyone to come to the Special Town Meeting and then vote for the funding at the Town Election (if we get through the Special Town Meeting, that is.)
