Coronavirus: In Easton, A Plea For Social Distancing

Easton Superintendent of Schools implores residents to adhere to social distancing as coronavirus positive tests top 80 in town.

EASTON, MA — Easton Superintendent of Schools Lisha Cabral implored students and residents to adhere to social distancing directives as she reported the number of positive tests for the new coronavirus topped 80 in the town. The last official figure released by the town was 76 positive cases as of Tuesday.

"PLEASE HELP!" Cabral posted on her Twitter account. :"I am pleading with all of you to share: We're seeing MANY social distancing violations in town. It's hard, but it's necessary (and) together we can do it. Groups of non-family are NOT OK right now."

Easton has been particularly hard hit as a town. On Friday, the Massachusetts National Guard was mobilized in Easton after town officials said the Southeast Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center reported "numerous residents" have tested positive for the new coronavirus. The deployment is part of the new state Department of Public Health pilot program that provides medical support for testing to long-term care facilities during the health crisis.
