Easton Completes Vaccination Clinics For First Responders

The town announced Wednesday that its first responders have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

EASTON, MA — The Town of Easton has completed a series of three COVID-19 vaccination clinics for its first responders, said a news release from the Easton Fire Department.

The clinics vaccinated members of the Easton Fire and Police Departments and EMS workers earlier this month.

“We as first responders want to protect ourselves and protect our families, and we also want to still be able to go out and do our jobs effectively without putting people at risk,” Chief Kevin Partridge said in a statement. “To have the vaccine allows us to be able to do that.”

Town officials said they have not yet received additional doses of the vaccine, but will keep residents up to date on distribution and will schedule a clinic for eligible populations when more doses become available.

The individuals eligible to be vaccinated during Phase 2 currently include residents age 75 or over, residents age 65 or over, and residents with two or more comorbidities. Those who qualify can call the Easton COVID-19 hotline at 508-230-0783 or email the town to be placed on the Vaccine Interest List.

“Officials are working around the clock to prepare to get the vaccine to the public once it’s available from the State,” Chief Partridge said. “The whole Emergency Management Team is on the same page, and we are ready to go. We ask that the public keep an eye out for information on upcoming clinics, and we hope residents follow our lead and get vaccinated to stop the spread of the virus.”

According to the state’s vaccine distribution plan, members of the general public will begin receiving the vaccine during Phase 3, which is expected to begin in April.
