Easton Fire Department Awarded Coronavirus Grant

EASTON, MA — The Easton Fire Department will use a state grant under the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program to purchase equipment it deems necessary amid the ongoing health crisis.

Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge announced that Easton fire has been awarded the $13,470 grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Office of Grants and Research. The grant is part of a $9.6 million funding program to aid cities and towns during the coronavirus emergency.

Partridge said the town will use the money to buy a PortaCount Respirator Fit Test, which can be used to help test the fit of the many different types of respirators used by firefighters, police officers, school nurses and other healthcare workers in the town.

"This grant will be helpful in purchasing necessary equipment that our department needs to continue to serve our community during this pandemic," Partridge said. "We are extremely thankful to the Baker-Polito administration and CESFP for choosing us to be recipients of this grant."

Grants were recently awarded to 65 fire departments and 44 police departments across the state.
